I've been having a little fun. I discovered that webcrawler has a map search
feature, so I updated my JS tour date page with map links to most of the
clubs. It is kinda fun. Plus I added two new tour dates a short while ago- JS
will be in the Bay Area in early May at the Sweetwater and the Palms (YEAY!)

12-string would be nice, but in lieu of that, BEG, coerce, bribe or do
anything you can to get JS to play his banjo!!!! Last time I heard him play
was in San Diego some years back and I'm on a campaign to get him to blow
the dust off and pull it out again <grin>

Enjoy the show....wish I could go :)))

It'll be great to hear Darwin's Army.

I guess the top of my request list would be anything new. It's always a great
pleasure, John, to hear what you've been working on since the last recording.
(I remember back in the early '80s, recently returned from living in
Australia for a year, I saw a show at the Golden Bear in which you did songs
from what became the Last Campaign LP, and being blown away by "Dreamers" and
"Hearts & Dreams on the Line.")

Others on my list would be:

Eyes of Sweet Virignia (always)
Golden Gate
Wings of the Raven
Comfort Me (I know you said this is out of the rotation, but if it every
comes back in...)

And a couple more probably long out of the live show rotation but still
whirling around in the brains of many of us:

Wind Dies Down
Road Shines Bright
Light Come Shine

Thanks for asking.

Ian, et al.

A couple years ago, I emailed the director of a syndacated radio show
called "Acoustic Cafe", encouraging them to feature John and his work. The
response was that they were big fans and would love to book him, but were
waiting for a strong label release. I can only pull the broadcast in every
twelfth try or so, so i don't have details, but i seem to remember a web
site @acafe. Maybe somebody knows a web address? I'll work on finding that
info if no one has it, but that's a "campaign" that might pay off.

Having a web page personally designed by John is like having our own window
into his thoughts and his spirit and soul. Like taking a glimpse into his
daily journal, as it were ... and helps us all gain a little better insight
into his works.
There's nothing like having the artist perform his/her own compositions ...
and Angel Town is an extension of his tremendous talent.
I love it!
And John, wherever you are ... thanks.

George, thanks for the introduction, and don't forget to send your posts
and introduction to "bloodlines@world.std.com". (I've forwarded this one to
the entire group of subscriber to the Bloodlines mailing list).

By the way, George, we're planning a "Lonesome Picker Tribute Tape" that
will feature members of this mailing list attempting to do justice to their
favorite John Stewart song(s). One of our more audio-savvy members, Randi
will be coordinating this. We'd love to have a submission from you.

Another by the way, how's everyone doing on getting their "acts" together?
Any updates, guys?

Subj:	Little nothings
Date:	97-03-30
From:	donfish@sttl.uswest.net (D&L Ruiz/Peeveyroo)

Little nothings items while waiting at the mailbox for my ``Rough
Sketches'' CD and ``Cadillac Ranch'' coffee mug:

* I'm in Tacoma's Big Five Sporting Goods this week looking for running
socks when what drifts over the sound system but ``Lost Her in the Sun''
(Dream Babies version.) It had been quite a while since I had heard our guy
on the radio. Always fun.

* I see Nancy Griffith has a new album out. But I further see no JS songs
nor any indication that this is the ``Other Voices, Other Rooms'' sequel
that we had been hearing about. Does anyone know if that project fell
through or is still scheduled a bit farther down the road.

* Big-time potential bad news for Seattle-area folkies: Rumor in the
Seattle Times this week that the Backstage, the area's best folk club and
the place where John usually plays, could be closing in the fall, a victim
of Washington state's absolutely nutso liquor laws. Arg.

* Any of you other Bloodliners scattered around the world getting a look
at the Hale-Bopp comet? I've gotten a few good looks on the rare evenings
when the clouds lift from over Puget Sound. It's instantly recognizable to
the naked eye. But thrilling as it is, it is a long way short of casting
shadows or scaring horses as told in John's wonderful ``An Account of
Haley's Comet.'' Now THAT must have been a comet. Plus much more poetry in
the name than ``An Account of Hale-Bopp Comet.''

* While on that topic, anyone know any other good comet songs? The only
other I know is Mary-Chapin Carpenter's also-magical ``Haley Came to
Jackson.''

* And in closing, looking forward to the AOL chat Tuesday... which is not
only chat day but also April Fool's Day and the first day of the new
baseball season.
