I listened to a dj on KFOG tonight rave about the U2 Pop show which played at
the Oakland Coliseum last night. She indicated one of her favorite moments
was when Bono led the audience in a sing a long "to that Monkees tune"
Daydream Believer complete with lyrics and bouncing ball on the mile high set

Well I guess I can't blame the general public for thinking of it as a Monkees

Willis Alan Ramsay moved to Ireland and disappeared from the music scene

Actually until I have started to see a few notes about this I was thinking it
was an AOL problem. I have had this problem for about a week now it seems.
Since Catherine mentioned that she is getting duplicate posts (I have only
had one or two of those) and missing others (I have definately had that
problem) we either have a wider spread internet problem or else a Bloodlines
problem. I am having delivery problems with email coming from other sources
than Bloodlines though so this may be the beginning of the spam email
meltdown of the net! (joke folks). I have about all but given up following
threads these days. Many posts arrive 2, 3 and near 4 days late.

Anyways, Michelle, do you want to check with std about this?

Hi friends!

For any of you planning to attend the Rt. 66 show in Williams, AZ....here's
what you need to do.

Call the Sultana Theater ASAP...(they will answer the phone "Rt 66 Magazine"
but that's because they are promoting it, and taking reservations for the show.)
Dave has already posted the number, but here it is again...

(520) 635-4322

Ticket price is $25 which is about twice the usual price to see
John...BUT....I think that this show will be more than worth the extra bucks.
You may reserve tickets over the phone, with a credit card and pick them up
at the theater about 6 30pm, they say. Show starts at 7pm. Parking will
NOT be available anywhere near the theater, because they're blocking off the
street due to some kind of "Festival"...I forgot what he called it! It's a
three day event, and apparently John's show is part of it.

Anyone going, let Rick or myself know, and we'll be sure and look for you!

Hey, I wouldn't admit this to anyone but the accepting, broadminded people of
Bloodlines, but... when I was 12 years old, I had an enormous crush on Shaun Cassidy.
Yep, bought 3 of his albums, watched "Hardy Boys" religiously (anyone remember Paul
Williams as guest villain?), AND went to his concert in Chgo and screamed myself
hoarse. The 2:00 PM show. (There was also a 6:00 PM show -- so all the larval

well. Actually, you could do the Freddie to everysong ever recorded.....the

confession: "My Dad" by Paul Peterson. He even sang it on "The Donna Reed

Off topic, but THIS is one of the things that I love so much about not only
this mailing list, but also the "chat" environment that I've been a
participant in for several years!!!
I've made many wonderful "real time"friends whom I first met online....and
for some unknown reason, there seems to be a real sense of community there,
and also here on Bloodlines, because we come to care about people whom we've
never met face to face.

Unfortunate that the media only seems to spotlight the 'bad' things...i.e.
the runaway kids who are lured by pedophiles online, the marriages that
break up over online stuff, etc. etc......I wish the media would just once
do a spotlight on the GOOD stuff, like this!!!

How would we all have gotten together to share our common interest in JS if
it wasn't for computers and technology....well...we wouldn't, actually.

Just wanted to throw that in :)))))

You know what dem old media types are like - 'good news is no news'.
Whenever I hear people quoting all this stuff about terrorists, paedophiles
and the like and concluding that the net is 'a bad thing', I always reply:
Yes, just like telephones - people use them to plan atrocities, conduct
illicit affairs, rip people off, you name it. Come to think of it, they use
'snail mail' to do all those things, maybe *that's* a bogeyman, too. And
they even talk to each other face to face - who knows what awful things they
say?

The internet is just a communications medium; it is neutral; what people
*do* with it is another thing entirely. In other words, the medium is NOT
the message.

In a nutshell: I agree with Nancy.

	Hey Ron,

I had an interesting experience awhile back with this song. My
partner and I thru an "Inner Child" Easter Egg hunt. One of the guests
does Kareokie(spell 'em like I see 'em!) One of the songs on his play
list was "Daydream Beleiver" and it didin't say "By the Monkies" on it.
It said by John Stewart. It was the Monkies verison however.
Well I did my best JS (best?!) imitation and sang it for the
crowd. When Davey got to the lines "You once thought of me, as a white
knight on his steed, Now you know how "happy" I can be." I emphasized
"FUNKY". Everyone laughed. I also said at the end "Cheer up sleepy Jean,
Oh what can it mean, to a Daydream Deceiver, and an old closet queen"
which brought the house down. For those of you in the know that's what
John sings on his version from "Lonesome Picker".
I'm glad to see at elast one JS song hitting the "younger"
generation! Oh and by the way Pat Bone called John!

Hey if you want real 70's concert fun that's the ticket. At Ozzy Osborne's
"Ozzfest" here in columbus, Ozzie was ill, allegedly he notified the Polaris
beforehand, but they didn't call off the show (the other acts were OK). Just
before Ozzie was supposed to come on stage, they simply closed up all the
concessions, pulled all the trash cans inside and everybody boogied outside
the fence including security. Ozzy's fans had a small riot, turned the
wooden fence around the arena into a series of bonfires, and messed a lot of
other stuff. The
police just watched, after an hour, everyone went home and no one got hurt
(except for some guy who crashed his own head into a fence).

Kind of reminds me of the 70s!

Hey, could you please post some of the line-ups that have been at your
folk festivals? No offense, but it has been my experience that most folk
festivals end up being kind of lame in terms of establised performing artists.
I prefer the concept of 2-5 fairly established acts with a simiar fan
base touring. Folk festivals are more often carnivals. They are a place that
you go to hear indigenous mucisians, and unusual artists. That I don't mind,
its when evening rolls around and the better known names come out on a stage
with constant electronic raspberiess ('bzzzzt') in the wires mike feedback,
inaudible sound, and not enough porta-pots for the influx of fans.

Leave the folk festivals to the true local folk artists, and bring the big
acts to the theatre downtown with crisp stereo, sloped seats so I can see,
and johns with working sinks. :-)

Honest, doc, it's just a blur! There I was, trying to do a "uie" on the
interstate, fishtailing across three lanes of traffic, trying to get to
this young thing who had a sign that just said, "PLEASE", when out of
nowhere this thundering Cadillac drop-top came careening by, driven by
some guy with dark hair, a straw cowboy hat, with a banjo in the
backseat, who blew me off the road and slid to a stop in front of her
while I catapulted across the divider strip, launched into space,
cleared a Kenworth and VW van filled with nuns, ripped through a
wildflower strip and a sign saying "The next mile is kept clean by the
Union Carbide bowling team", bounced off the drainage ditch, bounced
into a MacDonald's parking lot (we're talking FAST service here; got two
Big Macs, an order of fries, and a diet coke before the second bounce),
went through a billboard advising me to buckle up for safety,
cartwheeled past maybe a half dozen cars with their noses stuck in the
ground (I may have been hallucinating at this point because of the
g-forces), did seven 360's across the desert while Greenpeace folks
through recyclable spitballs at me, and came to a halt in front of five
kids wearing torn shorts and tennies holding onto skateboards who gave
me a round of applause, two high fives, and a "Cool, dude." Ever since
then I haven't been able to keep any old memories straight.
Take care,
Lobo (AW)

ps thanks for the correction - it's even more embarassing than I thought
it was! <G>

It's 10 pm on a Friday night in 1959. Eleven years old and supposed to
be asleep, but I'm listening to a six transistor radio under my pillow,
tears rolling down off of my nose onto the sheets. "Teen Angel can you
hear me? Teen Angel can you see me? Are you somewhere up above and am
I still your own true love? Just sweet sixteen and now you're
gone...they've taken you away. I'll never kiss your lips again...they
buried you today." Corny...you bet! Ashamed...No way. Our tastes may
change but how empty our lives would be without the memories that are
forever tied to the music. Mark Denning are you somewhere out there or
are you somewhere up above?

My wife and I are signed up and ready to go. We can hardly wait.

We are fortunate to be close enough to drive down (Larkspur, CO).

Who else is going to be there?

I don't think anyone mentioned Carlene Carter in the Music Exhange, but I
happened to see a couple of sealed copies of her first two albums at a
local store, they're only a few dollars. Not something you see every day.

I also still have a mint Decca release of the Kingston Trio's first album
in Mono Hi-Fidelity. Looks like it was hardly played.

When I was a kid (under 10) I had a pretty wierd record collection (for a
kid) I took whatever people gave to me. I got to listen to stuff like Mac
Davis, Wayne Newton, Paul Anka, Jerry Reed, Jackson Five, 5th Dimension,
B.J. Thomas,
and a whole host of other stuff you would never guess. After 10 I was able to
ask for stuff and get it.

Subject: Whose Chose To Sing Lead?

Hey Bloodliners and Angelbravo,

Geez so many messeges! I have a qyestion for Angelbravo(or anyone
who might know). Who chose to sing the lead vocals in Kingston Trio
songs? I assume John sung most of the leads in his own work. But say who
chose to be lead in "Rev. Mr. Black"? or "River Run Down"? Just curious?

	Wingless Angel(Robert)

P.S. I also wanted to know if other people get bugged by little
personal messages they could send to people they are intended to.
Messeges that have nothing to do with the group itself?
