I have to agree with the non-West Coasters and teachers. California in the
spring would be difficult. Maybe we ought to have it at some "neutral" site
in the middle of the country, so everyone will have to travel (grin).
BTW, received the videos and Rough Sketches today. Sketches is very
interesting -- I really like Neon Road and Mac Brasel's Farm. Sometimes John
puts out a record that needs time to grow on me. I'm on the second listening
now, and it is beginning to grow (on me). I've sampled video #2; it is very
homegrown, but it has a feel of reality to it. It takes me back to Poor
David's in Dallas to previous JS shows. I recommend them.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Well it is pretty exciting checking in here and finding all these excited
(and disappointed ) emails.
Randi-
If this flies I'm sure I could use some help, so that would be appreciated.
Timewise, April works well for me BECAUSE of school. We have a year round
school district so school is out for our section from the last week of March
thru April 20. Then we have school thru July 16. Then we're out until Sept
3rd. Pretty strange, huh? But it does let us have fun in April without
crowds.... But, depending on the consensus we could push it forward to May
(or even June if need be). Any of this is going to be dependent on what is
workable for John and if we get enough interest to make it worthwhile. I
mean, as much as I might like it, I think if we only had ten people then it
won't fly. If we get a big enough group tho then I could flesh it out with a
call to the NanciNet.
Now, considering there is a pretty big fan contingent in the Ohio-Penn-VA
area here I don't see why you couldn't set up the mid-east side for when John
comes out that way (assuming of course John goes along with this!).

If you guys are posting "sightings" of John's songs getting airplay, our
local college station KFJC (Los Altos Hills, SF Bay Area) not only played the
song "Looking for Jack" but was also giving away passes to the concert in
Palo Alto. I've heard John on more than one occasion on this station, as well
as on San Jose State's KSJS (and not just Gold). LONG LIVE COLLEGE RADIO!!!

About that home concert; Several months back I volunteered my house, but I
only got three responces, so I decided to put the project on the back burner
until there was more interest.
If there is sufficient interest at this time I would be glad to volunteer my
place again. I'm near Crestline and Lake Arrowhead, in the San Bernardino
Mtns. I think this would be a centralized location for folks coming from
So. Cal. & Ariz. My place has National Forest on three sides, and the few
neighbors we have are "cool". Please write at DMotley@aol.com if you are
interested. I'm serious!
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

From: pjmar@ptdprolog.net (PJ March)
Dear Bloodlines:
I just finished creating a JS chronological discography of official releases
by year, album title, and song title.
It includes Cumberland Three, Kingston Trio, and solo works.
I believe it is fairly accurate, but I'd welcome any additions.
It is available as a Microsoft Access Data Base (Windows 95 Version 7.0)
.mdb 270KB
and also .rtf 65KB, Microsoft Word .doc 56KB, and .txt 29 KB
I'd be glad to share with anyone interested. Just ask and I'll send via e-mail.
Merry Xmas,

Dear Clack, Clack,
Well hell, I was only goin' to the store for cigarettes, but I'd go to
Vallejo to see John. As you probably know I offered my place in Crestline
for a concert too. I wouldn't be surprised if others do too. A series of
regional concerts may be the solution to satisfy all "members" of our little
society. Heck, I'd go to all the ones that I could in the So. West.
Whatever you guy's decide is cool with me. I'll bet we could make it
worth John's time and energy.

From: don-fish@msn.com (D. & F. R.)
On my 1997 Christmas wish list remains a wish for a John & Buffy Christmas
album.
But in the meanwhile it has crossed my
obviously-not-enough-to-keep-it-occupied mind that I can think of only one JS
song including even the *word* ``Christmas.'' I may be forgetting some
obvious ones, but since the one I'm thinking of is a relatively obscure JS song, I'll
keep it to myself for now and ask it as a quiz: Who can name a JS song that
includes the word ``Christmas''?
And while we're on the topic: Merry Christmas, Bloodliners.

From: don-fish@msn.com (D. & F. R.)
We otherwise polite considerate folkie-fan West Coasters didn't mean to be
piggish about nominating house concert sites. At the last AOL chat we asked
the little where's-everybody-from question, and I would say something like 80
percent of the chatters were from California, Oregon or Washington. And SF
Bay is a great area, convenient to JS, and about halfway between Seattle Mister
and the Miracle Mile. But Phoenix is special for Stewart fans. Kansas City
is, well, centrally located. Route 66 starts in Chicago. Or we could make it an
annual event and rotate coasts as if we were an Elks convention. It doesn't
much matter to me. If JS agrees to this, I'll be there; wherever ``there'' is.

Please forgive me asking about this one "minor" little detail, that seems to
have been somewhat overlooked with all this email going around about where,
when, who's house, east coast or west coast.....
But....
Has anyone thought to ask JOHN, and see what he's willing and able to do for
us, and what he's NOT willing to do?
Just a suggestion....he might appreciate it that we ASKED
him before we make all these plans! <G>

Media would be a perfect location. And i think Pete Crossland (you out
there Pete?) was trying to put something together in Ohio a few months
back. Of course, everyone is welcome at my house, but it is not an ideal
venue (pretty small and right in the city). There has to be enough interest
out here to do something (though i would dearly love to meet all you west
coast friends)

I have a rather large house near Yellow Springs with a room that's ideal

But I've just found a way to get $5 off the set. If anyone is a member of

Can't agree more re. your choice of best concerts for '96!
I was at the same one at Andersen's in Scottsdale. . . in fact, I made
both the summer one and the concert a couple of Sunday nites ago.
Loved hearing his new cuts from Rough Sketches during the July show.
Stopped on the way out and bought the cassette. . . If Johnny Flamingo and
the blue dream road isn't sing-along material, no song from anyone will ever be!
"The choice of the future , the sins of the past,
Knowing the time is moving too fast
Moving too fast to carry this load

Do you live in Scottsdale. . . . or Flagstaff? Sounds as if you're as much
in to John's music as the rest of us are. We have a group that never misses John
when he comes to Andersen's. Next time he plays Flagtstaff after a Scottsdale
concert, we're all planning to trek to the north country to catch his concert up there.
Needless to say, you're more than welcome to join in with us.
One couple in our group has been following John . . . and the Trio,
also. . . for over 30 years. Used to live in S. Calif and saw alot of his early concerts.
Has some great stories. . .
Contact me thru bloodlines here , or e-mail me. I'lll return with my Scottsdale
phone number. Perhaps we can all get together in the near future and exchange JS
memories. Meanwhile I'll pass your name on to my JS friends. In all probability,
I don't believe they're aware of this great mailing list, nor Ron Beffa's

IDEAL NEW YEARS EVE CONCERT (name headliner and two opening acts):

After we are sufficiently breathless Dar William's comes out and shows us why
she's the best thing on the folk scene for the last couple years. Then John
comes out, knocks our socks off, and then for an encore sees in the New Year
with a Runaway Train with Chapin and Rosanne trading verses with him. My idea
of heaven.

of one of the greatest country songs ever that missed popularity because
country music wasn't sufficiently evolved in '69...."July, You're a Woman",
uncensored. Oldies stations keep playing "Lost Her in the Sun", "Midnight
Wind" and "Gold". Then a harmonic convergence occures as John's great song

awakes to ask, Who is this guy, anyway?

A few random year end thoughts
--Discovering Bloodlines and the MMC site on AOL this year was like finding
the only other band of post-holocaust survivors when you thought you were all
alone. What a great experience to share our fierce devotion to John
Stewart's work.
--Is there a better way to set the world right after a rotten day than to
listen to "Live at the Turf"?
--How about short sets from Ian Tyson and Tom Russell before bringing on the
main event?
--I love all the references to Greg Brown, Guy Clark and Cheryl Wheeler.
Most of us like most of the same stuff.
--Scottish group Runrig has a U.S. release out now. Grab it if you see it.
Hang on dreams, you ain't seen it all--
Happy new year to everyone
